SYNOPSIS
Every day in Germany, thousands of cancer patients are treated with drugs whose shelf life is massively exceeded. There are no research results as to whether and how these drugs still work. If patients die as a result, they have officially died of cancer. The perfect crime. Investigative journalists around Oliver Schröm are currently working on disclosing the full extent of this scandal, which only knows two victims: the patients and the health system itself. The research into the “cancer mafia” raises moral and ethical questions for society: how much profit can the health care system tolerate? When can medical care and care work no longer be a numbers game? In a scenic installation, the concrete scandal is contrasted with the systemic dimension of the failure in the health sector and the fate of individual cancer patients.
